Why a Founder’s Edition
The first stone of a winery.
The Founder’s Edition is the first of three. It builds the cellar where Iacobici wine will be made, in the Subcarpathian hills of Oltenia, where wine had all but disappeared.
Once the wine is made and bottled, everything that remains is reinvested in Godinești: first the cellar and the land, then, with the Keystone and Homecoming editions, the vineyard and the winery. Nothing is taken out as profit. There will never be a second Founder’s Edition.
The first wines are made just across the border, in Mehedinți. Wine is still made in Gorj, but at home, for the family: there is no established winery able to make an edition like this to the standards it demands. Bringing winemaking back to Gorj is the reason Iacobici exists.1
